Mix//Sync

Mix//Sync and Beatport's B2B Mode

Both let you play a set with other DJs in your browser. The biggest difference is where the music comes from. Every statement about Beatport below links to Beatport's own help pages.

Beatport's B2B Mode

B2B Mode is part of the Beatport DJ App. In Beatport's words: "Set hosts can invite up to four other DJs to participate in real-time or relax and enjoy the set while engaging through the chat feature. During the set, shared playlists are created, which all participants can save." [1]

It used to be called Party Mode; Beatport renamed it in June 2024. [2] The DJ App runs in a web browser and is made for computers rather than phones. [3] [4]

The music is Beatport's catalog, streamed. Beatport says a subscription is required to host or to join a B2B set. [1] [5] With a free account, the DJ App plays previews of 30 to 120 seconds; full tracks need Beatport Streaming Essential at least. [6]

Mix//Sync

Two DJs share a session from a link: two decks and one mixer. Each of you plays your own music from your own computer, either a folder of files or your Rekordbox collection from its XML export, which brings your playlists, hot cues and beat grids with it. Your files stay on your computer. Your partner hears your decks live, and you hear theirs. Press Rec and the whole mix, both sides of it, is saved as an MP3. Mix//Sync runs in Chrome or Safari on a laptop or desktop computer.
