Mix//Sync and Rekordbox
Rekordbox is where a lot of DJs keep their music: analysis, beat grids, cues, playlists, and the export to CDJs. Mix//Sync doesn't try to replace that. It brings your Rekordbox collection into a session you can play from anywhere, alone or with a friend.
What Rekordbox is great at
Library management, preparing music for CDJs, and performing on a controller or CDJs in one place.
What Mix//Sync adds
- Play back-to-back with someone in another city. The two of you share two decks and one mixer, each playing music from your own computer, and you hear each other live.
- Your preparation comes with you. Import your collection from Rekordbox's XML export: playlists, hot cues and beat grids.
- Record the mix, both sides of it, as an MP3.
What you'd keep doing in Rekordbox
Organizing and analyzing new music, saved loops and memory cues, and exporting to USB for CDJs.
Playing remotely with Rekordbox alone
To play with someone elsewhere, DJs add tools around it, like a video call or a remote desktop app, and each one costs something in timing or in whose library you can use. See Ways to DJ together from two places.
