Get your Rekordbox library ready for the browser
Mix//Sync reads your Rekordbox collection from the XML file Rekordbox exports. A few minutes in Rekordbox before you export means your hot cues, grids and playlists arrive the way you left them. The export itself is covered step by step in Help. This page is about what to check first.
What Mix//Sync reads from the file
- Each track's title, artist, album, genre, label and year.
- The tempo and key Rekordbox found, and the track's length.
- The beat grid, including where bar 1 sits.
- Hot cues, each on its own pad.
- Playlists, in their folders and in their order.
- How many times you've played each track, and the date you added it.
It only reads the file. Your Rekordbox library is never changed.
Before you export
Analyze your tracks
Tracks Rekordbox has analyzed bring their tempo, key and beat grid with them. A track it hasn't analyzed arrives without a Rekordbox grid, and Mix//Sync works one out when you load it.
Use hot cues, not memory cues
Each deck in Mix//Sync has eight hot cue pads, A to H, and each Rekordbox hot cue lands on the pad with the same letter. Memory cues and saved loops stay behind. If a cue matters to you in a mix, make it a hot cue before you export.
Check the grids you care about
Your grids come across as you set them, and Mix//Sync keeps them instead of putting its own in their place. So a grid that's off in Rekordbox is off here too. Fix it in Rekordbox before you export, so the fix comes across every time you connect a new export.
Put your sets in playlists, in order
Playlist order comes across, and your playlists help fill the energy shelves. A playlist that's just a pile of saved records can be left out of that with a right-click.
Make sure the files are on this computer
Mix//Sync plays the music files on your computer. A track Rekordbox lists without a file here, like one stored only in iCloud, has nothing to play. Click one and Mix//Sync tells you to download it in the Apple Music app first.
Check the file types
MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG and M4A play. AIFF and Apple Lossless (ALAC) files don't play in Chrome yet, so it's worth knowing before you plan a mix.
After you connect
The export tells Mix//Sync where each file is. If a track says it isn't connected to its file yet, point Mix//Sync at the folder it lives in, and it reconnects.
When your library changes
Export again from Rekordbox and connect the new file the same way: Add my music, Rekordbox, Choose file…, then Connect. Playlists you've brought in before are updated in place, not added a second time.
