What your partner sees, and what stays yours
When a friend joins your session, the two of you share two decks and one mixer. Some things about your side travel to their screen, and some stay on your computer. Here's which is which.
About each record you play
For a deck you're playing, your partner's screen shows:
- the title, artist, key, BPM and length;
- its waveform and beat grid, and where it's playing;
- a small copy of its cover.
And they hear it, live. Only the sound travels: the music file itself never leaves your computer.
About you
- Your name, at the top of their screen.
- A red dot on your name while you're recording. It appears once the take is actually recording, not while Rec is still waiting for the music.
- Your chat messages. Anyone who joins or reloads the session sees the conversation so far.
- The records you play, with your name beside them, in their Set so far list.
What stays on your computer
- Your library. Your partner never receives your list of tracks.
- Your files. Only the sound of the decks you play goes to your partner.
- Next up. Your list of what's coming is yours alone.
- Your suggestions. The Fits with cards come from your own library, including the ones under your partner's deck.
- Effects you put on their deck. An Echo, Noise or Space you add to your partner's deck plays on your computer only.
- Your recording. Rec records on the computer it's pressed on. Your partner has a copy only if they press Rec too.
Shared both ways
Either of you can play, pause, cue or jump on either deck, and the mixer is shared. Who controls what has the details.
