Two DJs, one mixer: who controls what
When a friend joins your session, the two of you share two decks and one mixer. In short: whoever loads a deck plays it, either of you can play, pause or cue either deck, and the mixer is shared.
A deck is yours when you load it
Load a track onto a deck and you're the one playing it: the music comes from your computer, and your partner hears it live. A small round badge on the deck's artwork shows the first letter of the name of the DJ whose track it is. Hover it to see whose track it is.
Either of you can play, pause, cue or jump on either deck
Press one on your partner's deck and their deck does it, just as if they had pressed it.
Some controls stay with the DJ who's playing the deck
Tempo, hot cues, loops and grid fixes work on the decks you're playing.
The mixer is shared
You can both move the trim, EQ and volume on both channels, as well as the crossfader and MAIN. When you move one of these on your partner's channel, you both hear the change.
Loading onto a deck that's playing
A deck your partner is playing is theirs: if you load onto it, your track goes to the other deck instead, and if that one is playing too, nothing loads. Your own deck loads whenever you choose, even while it plays. A deck that isn't playing can be loaded by either of you, and whoever loads it plays it.
