Build the mix and Dig deeper

Two buttons at the top of your library help when you're putting a set together before you play it. Build the mix drafts a set from the records you're looking at. Dig deeper finds records you already own that fit a playlist you're building, including the ones you've forgotten about.

Build the mix

With at least three tracks in view, whether a playlist, a shelf or a search, press Build the mix. Pick a length, 1h, 90m, 2h or All, then pick a direction, and the draft appears:

What you get

A draft called "Set from" and the name of what you were viewing. Across the top, a line shows the draft's energy from start to finish, with its peak marked, so you can see whether it matches the direction you picked. Each track has one word for how it moves from the one before, rises, peaks, holds or eases, with its BPM and key beside it. The first track says opens, and a track that hasn't been analyzed yet says "not analyzed".

What it aims for

The draft follows the shape of the direction you picked, keeps each step within reach on tempo, and leans toward keys that sit together. With a length picked, it picks roughly enough records to fill it.

Keep it or let it go

Press Save as new playlist to keep it, or Cancel to let it go. Saving makes a new playlist and leaves your other playlists as they are.

Dig deeper

Open one of your playlists and press Dig deeper. It finds up to five records from your library, from outside that playlist, that fit a gap in it.

Forgotten and Older

Two choices at the top decide which fitting records come first:

When nothing fits, it says so in a plain line rather than showing you something that doesn't.

Both are drafts

Neither one changes anything until you say so. Build the mix makes a playlist only when you save it, and Dig deeper adds a record only when you press Add. They work from your own records, and when you play the set, which record comes next is still your call.
